About the BLMA
The Babette Labeij Music Academy is the place for singing lessons in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Hilversum. We provide group lessons and private lessons for all ages and levels of experience. We believe everyone has a voice and we help you to use that voice to the best of your ability. Our team consists of professional and driven singing coaches.
What makes us unique? The name says it all! The BLMA was founded and run by Babette Labeij. Her many years of experience as a vocal coach, music consultant and choir conductor at home and abroad in TV programs such as The Voice of Holland, The Voice Kids, La Voz kids, Idols, X-Factor, as well as in studio sessions and other musical projects, make Babette the most renowned singing coach in the Netherlands.
Group lessons and private lessons
Group lessons: In our group lessons you develop your musical ear and abilities by singing together and working on different vocal arrangements. Singing in a group motivates, inspires and increases self-esteem! The BLMA is known for its talented singing groups of all ages. During the group lessons we train a healthy use of your voice through ‘mixing’ and ‘coloring’ together along coaching in timing and performance. The group lessons are given by our experienced and passionate singing coaches. Lessons take place every week on Monday-Sunday at the BLMA in Amsterdam, on Monday at the BLMA in Rotterdam, and on Tuesday at the BLMA in Hilversum.
International group: on Tuesdays at 18:00 we have our special international singing group for adults at the BLMA in Amsterdam. Are you an expat or international student who likes to sing or would like to learn more and have fun while doing so? Feel free to sign up for a trial-lesson!
Private lessons: Do you want to work on a specific song or struggle to reach that one high note? Whatever style you sing in or whatever your goal is: our team of experienced singing coaches can help you out! During a private singing lesson you work with a singing coach of your own choice on your needs. Each voice is unique and requires a different, personal approach. You can book the private lesson yourself through our online booking system. You will be asked to select the singing coach and date/time of choice.
Lessons for kids
We offer lessons for both kids and adults. Starting from the age of 3 we welcome kids to sign up for a trial-lesson. For kids under 10 we advise group lessons rather than private lessons. Singing in a group is proven to strengthen cognitive functions of the brain and increase connection with others. Our singing coaches speak Dutch during group lessons. However, we have many international kids who join and actually further develop their ability to speak Dutch throughout the lessons. Our singing coaches of course always keep in mind when there is an international student present both in group and private lessons.

Costs group lessons (for a trial-lesson)
€13,50 for students up to 20 years - regular 1 hour trial-lesson.
€16,25 for students 21 years or older - regular 1 hour trial-lesson.
€27 for students up to 20 years - weekend trial-lesson, duration of 2 hours every other week.
€32,50 for students 21 years or older - weekend trial-lesson, duration of 2 hours every other week.

Costs private lessons (45 minutes)
€50 for students up to the 20 years.

We offer a variety of workshop options which can be customised to your preferred needs. These include the following:

Summer Academy
Every summer we organise the Summer Academy at our location in Amsterdam: one week of kids singing together, workshops on musicals, performing and songwriting, and, above all, lots of fun at the BLMA!
